Prenatal CranioSacral Therapy
Craniosacral work is soothing, noninvasive, hands-on therapy that allows your body to enter a deep state of rest, relaxation and repair. By working with the client’s craniosacral system, practitioners facilitate the restoration of health to the body, creating space and freeing restrictions held in the tissues.
The craniosacral system includes the bones of the head, pelvis and spine, the connective tissue and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and the nervous system. Craniosacral work stems from a specialty of osteopathy called cranial osteopathy. Osteopathy is based on the belief that the body has an innate ability and capacity to heal itself when it is structurally and physiologically aligned.
Craniosacral work offers pre and postnatal mothers a time of deep rest and quiet. It is a time to regain inner alignment, peace and calm. A session involves working with the pelvis, spine and cranium. We work to open and relax the pelvis to prepare for labor and childbirth. We also seek to restore balance to the pelvis and align the spine. The cranium and pelvis are linked together with connective tissue and are directly connected, affecting one another. Therefore, we seek to optimize the freedom and ease of movement of the cranial bones.
Each session is formatted to meet your specific needs as pregnancy and childbirth varies between individuals.
Craniosacral work can help to relieve back pain, reduce stress levels and increase immune system function. By working with the cranial system, hormone levels can be balanced and soothed, helping to alleviate postpartum depression.
